Layton is the shortest drive on this list and the easiest room to get into, which matters more than it sounds like it should. Most of Davis County was built recently, so the venues tend to have wide doors, level floors and parking that isn't a negotiation. Tables go in fast and the setup window is short.
The work here skews corporate, and it's a particular flavour of corporate. Hill Air Force Base and the contractors around it dominate local employment, so a lot of what Davis County throws is unit and squadron functions, defence and aerospace company parties, and December bookings from organisations that plan months out and want a firm number early.
What it means for a casino night. These rooms are usually mixed-age and mixed-seniority — people who work together without necessarily socialising together. That's the exact situation a casino floor is best at, because it gives them something to do besides talk about work. Lean toward the games anyone can pick up cold: blackjack, roulette, baccarat.
The other half of Layton is domestic. Milestone birthdays, graduations, anniversaries in a big front room or a finished basement. One or two tables changes those evenings completely.

Layton and the towns either side of it have conference-centre capacity that the smaller places on this list don't, alongside the usual church halls, community rooms and newer reception venues. Getting in is rarely the hard part here.

Twenty minutes or so. Layton is the easiest date for us to say yes to at short notice.
